About This Novel
The Chen family of Yimen is also known as the Chen family of Jiangyou and the Chen family of Jiangzhou. It is a Jiangyou ethnic family originating from Cheqiao Town, De'an County, Jiangxi Province. In 832 AD, Chen Wang, the ancestor of the Chen family in Jiangyou, bought a house in Changleli, Taiping Township, De'an County because he was an official. By the fourth year of Zhonghe in the Tang Dynasty, several generations had lived together for more than 50 years. Emperor Xizong of the Tang Dynasty personally presented a plaque with the name "Yimen Chen Family"; Zhao Heng, the emperor of Zhenzong, gave the couplet a couplet saying that "the family of three thousand people is the best in the world, and they have lived together for five hundred years without any parallel in the world". In the fourth year of Tianxi (AD 1011), he ordered a high platform to be built outside Jingbiao Gate. The novel takes Chen Yimin (the seventh), Chen Yizhi (the third), and Chen Yizhi's grandson Chen Wenlong as the core characters among the seven sons of Yimen in Jiangzhou. It depicts a historical picture of a large family with more than 3,900 people living together and drinking together, with misfortunes, disasters and dangers, making people worried about their fate and ups and downs. The protagonists Yi Min and Yi Zhi are quick-thinking and unique in thinking. They spend their whole life building a world-renowned family that relies on farming, studying and passing down the family from generation to generation, pays attention to loyalty, filial piety and etiquette, and advocates the righteousness of the family and the country.
