About This Novel
This is a unique youth coming-of-age novel. The novel takes the study and life of young Wanka during his three years in junior high school as the main line. It creates the images of a group of teenagers with distinctive personalities, including Wanka, Liu Fu, Cao Yaozu, Chang Chang, and Gao Fanxiang. It describes the psychological (emotional) process of these teenagers in a capable and pure style, with particular emphasis on describing their subtle and complex adolescent initiation, as well as the unspeakable troubles caused by it. The novel also intersperses the description of Wanka's class teacher Zhen Menglu's understanding of the emotional world of adolescent boys, and focuses on Wanka's aunt (stepmother) Yin Xuemin's positive guidance to Wanka (helping Wanka through the dangerous period of adolescence). The author attempts to appeal to parents and teachers through these contents: to attach great importance to their children's adolescent education, and to create a healthy, free, and humane growth space for their children, so that every young boy can be a healthy, happy, and upward sunny boy.
