About This Novel
The novel mainly describes the ups and downs and legendary story of Hong Dabing, the youngest son of a wealthy family in the late Qing Dynasty, a small handicraftsman at the bottom of society. The novel uses a structure of intertwined time and space and parallel clues, and uses smooth and graphic language to describe the vicissitudes of history in the vast area from Jiangyin on the Yangtze River to Jingyang on the bank of the Jing River, connecting the two mother rivers. It reveals the tragic fate of small people and the difficult and tortuous development process of China's national industry, and promotes the national spirit of unyielding struggle, self-improvement, diligence and bravery in the face of suffering.
