About This Novel
"Rice" tells the story of the protagonist Wu Long's life journey of escaping from hunger and poverty, accompanied by the decadence of three generations of a family, the entanglement and conflict between the countryside and the city, and falling into the trap of sexual desire as his appetite is satisfied. The five dragons came for "rice" and finally died on the pile of rice on the train back home. The whole novel is full of pleasure to read and contains many deep meanings. "Rice" was adapted into the movie "Dahong Rice Store", which became a very controversial work in the history of Chinese film.
