"The Last Story" is a novel by Polish writer Olga Tokarczuk, winner of the 2018 Nobel Prize for Literature. The novel is composed of three stories about three generations of women that happened in different time and space: Ida came to a country house due to a car accident, and she was stranded with a dying dog in the place where she spent her childhood; Paraskivia lived in a house on the mountain far away from the dust and smoke all year round, and her husband died on Sunday night; Maya took her son to travel to an island in southern China after her divorce, and met a sick magician. Mother, grandmother, daughter, their paths have long been separated, but their lives are closely connected. Now, they will face the inevitable "death" alone. This is their "last story"...
