The author's writing is indeed very tense, but the preface and postscript are a bit long-winded. The full text unfolds through the male protagonist going undercover in a pharmaceutical company to find out the cause of his wife's death. The police and criminals battle wits and courage. The male protagonist accepts the teacher's arrangement to marry his daughter for the sake of his son. The professor kills her "fiancé" for the daughter's happiness. This is out of father's love, and the male protagonist also builds a family out of father's love and the kindness of master and apprentice. Maybe this is the best result. Although it is a bit regretful, at least there is family affection.
