About This Novel

"If you take seven steps out, you will encounter ten enemies." This is a proverb in Qibu Town and a metaphor for history and reality. The novel is written from the perspective of the writer Dong Sheng, who, as a patient with amnesia, unexpectedly learns about his past life experiences in the process of seeking medical treatment: he was a bandit when he was born around the Republic of China and killed countless people; he later joined Hu Zongnan's army; he was defeated in the battle against the Japanese in Zhongtiao Mountain; he later became a horse breeding expert and died in a vendetta. The author attempts to use the novel style of "returning to the past life" to penetrate history, reflect on life, and expand people's psychological and spiritual space.
