About This Novel

This book tells the story of a young officer who sent his wife to leave Nanjing in order to uphold his duties during the Anti-Japanese War. As a result, his wife broke her promise and left him, causing the family to break up. However, he was trapped in Nanjing and witnessed the horrors of the Nanjing Massacre. This book may be the earliest literary and artistic work to reflect the Nanjing Massacre during the Japanese invasion of China.
