About This Novel

This novel is based on the life experiences of several familiar seniors around the author when he was young, and unearths a little-known past event during the Anti-Japanese War. It is a rare and valuable "literary discovery". The book is told from the perspective of a young boy, Ah Sheng, in flashback, spanning nearly half a century, and witnesses the love, frustrations, entanglements and hopes of young people such as Aunt Hongji, Captain Yao, and Old Lu Bo who fought on the front line against Japan in the late 1930s. The whole novel runs through the emotional line of "Aunt Hongji" and lays many foreshadowings. It is not until the end of the novel that the dusty memory of Aunt Hongji before her death becomes clear. Finally, a secret plot of the hero and heroine is revealed, pushing the story and characters to the final climax. 2025 Marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people's Anti-Japanese War. I would like to dedicate this book to the ancestors in my hometown who fought against foreign enemies and shed blood on the battlefield.
