"The Story of Hulan River" is a representative novel by modern writer Xiao Hong. It was written in the autumn of 1938 and completed on December 20, 1940. It was serialized in "Sing Tao Daily" from September 1, 1940 to December 27; it was published by Guilin Heshan Publishing House in June 1942. Signed Xiao Hong. This novel reflects the decay, backwardness and ignorance of China's rural society by describing the customs and habits of the small northern town of Hulan River and the fate of a group of lower-class characters, especially women. "The Story of Hulan River" has seven chapters in total. It tells about Hulan, an ordinary small town in the north in the 1920s, and the ordinary lives of ordinary people. "Biography of Hulan River" is not a biography of a certain person, but a biography of the small town where the author was born and grew up.
