Gu Jiemin, a border militiaman who guards the island, has been on Sanshan Island for twenty-eight years. He has raised an army of sheep, pigs, dogs, chickens, and rabbits on the island. He collects oysters and catches crabs every day. He also has a caring wife and children. Gu Jiemin is very satisfied with his life. Chen Erdai, a former comrade-in-arms and now a big businessman, approached Gu Jiemin many times with the intention of opening a place for gambling and prostitution on the island. Gu Jiemin insisted on his duty under the attractive conditions offered by Chen Erdai. A tornado passed by, and Gu Jiemin struggled to save himself, but all the facilities on the island were completely destroyed. Chen Erdai, who went to the island again, was dumbfounded when he saw the mess that Gu Jiemin promised him.
