About This Novel
As a descendant of the "Bart Adam" Arab family living in Australia, Barney cannot yet understand the cultural differences between his family and the outside world. He has a Quran under his pillow, loves to play with Lego, and has an Elvis tapestry hanging outside his bedroom door. Seven-year-old Barney ignorantly observed the intricate relationships among the three generations in "Adam's House"; nine-year-old Barney was worried about threats from distant relatives at his uncle's wedding; eleven-year-old Barney watched his grandmother's death with sadness but joy. What happened in the tribe made Barney gradually understand that he was a generation who grew up in a multicultural background. He should explore the uniqueness of his nation and find his true self while recalling the historical changes of his family.
