About This Novel
Ding Guoyi was the secretary of the Municipal Party Committee. He retired a year ago. Unable to bear the snobbery of the officialdom, he decided to flee the city and return to his hometown of Dongyu Village with his wife to celebrate the New Year. When he was in power, Ding Guoyi did many good things for Dongyu Village, but after he stepped down, the people in his hometown wiped out all the good things he had done, which made Ding Guoyi very uncomfortable. He discovered three unsolvable mysteries: the first was the death of Ma Jixiang, who was only one or two years older than him, the second was the resignation of the mayor Li Jun, and the third was a bunch of sarcastic remarks from the village party secretary Sun Zhirong. Ding Guoyi could no longer stay in Dongyu Village, so he fled back to the city. After reading this, we find: the story has just begun... On the afternoon of New Year's Eve, Ding Guoyi and Wang Hui walked into Dongyu Village.
