About This Novel
During the Beginning of Summer Festival in 2014, a group of tourists came to Dawang Temple, the Dingjiabu Beginning of Summer Uprising Memorial Hall, speaking with a Beijing accent. One of them, an old man with a straight back, stood in front of a photo and stared at it for a long time. The man in the photo wears an octagonal hat, has a Chinese character face, and has bright eyes. Seeing this, everyone gathered around. Chief Ding, is this your father? No. He was my father's instructor and the leader of my father's revolution. Are there any records of your father in this memorial? Have. The old man pointed with trembling fingers to a line on the sign: "Except for one regiment member who asked to go home, the rest supported the uprising and joined the revolutionary ranks." My father was the regiment member who returned home. Said the old man.
