About This Novel
This book tells the story of the fate of black slaves before the American Civil War. Due to business failure, the owner of the manor, Shelby, had to sell his two black slaves, Uncle Tom and young Harry, to the slave trader Haley. The loyal and honest Tom was forced to leave his beloved wife and son. His first owner, Mr. Clare, was very kind, but the good times did not last long. Mr. Clare passed away, and he was sold to a cruel plantation owner Simon. He was eventually beaten to death, and he did not see his wife and children for the last time before he died. On the other side, Harry's mother Eliza escaped at night in order to protect her son. With the help of everyone, she finally boarded a ship to Canada with her husband who was unwilling to be a slave, and started a free life from then on.
