Treasure Box
by Yi Gang
About This Novel
During the war between Sichuan warlords in the early years of the Republic of China (1922 to 1923 AD), the villagers of Liujiadang in Jiangbei, Chongqing suffered greatly from the war. The military and Pao Ge organization lost their treasures, and the villagers dealt with the two skillfully. The materialistic temptation of children and money; the contradictory intertwining of reality and illusion are all fully explained artistically and vividly in the long scroll of traditional folk paintings of social customs in eastern Sichuan. The organic mixture of dialect and poetic language; the alternate development of fiction and historical narrative. The author strives to find a balance and entry point in the integration of imagination and non-fiction narrative, which also increases the readability of the novel "Treasure Box" from style to content. Careful readers can also feel the pulse of modern social history from this slightly postmodern text.
