About This Novel

"Wuthering Heights" describes that the protagonist Heathcliff is an abandoned child and is adopted by the old Mr. Earnshaw of Wuthering Heights. After adoption, he was jealous of and enmity with his young master Hendry because he was favored, but he had a deep relationship with his sister Catherine and fell deeply in love with him. After the death of old Earnshaw, Hendry demoted Heathcliff to a slave and persecuted him. Unbearable to be humiliated and frustrated in love, Hendry went out to get rich. After returning, he found that his girlfriend Catherine had married the landowner Linton, and a story of revenge against the landowner and his children followed. The whole novel is filled with a strong fighting spirit against oppression and seeking freedom, and is always enveloped in a bizarre, tense and romantic artistic atmosphere. This book is known as "the Sphinx in literature" and "the most magnificent epic of human love" in the history of British literature. It is "an outstanding work whose brilliance has not been obscured by the dust of time."
