"Pape Satanaleppe: Chronicle of a Mobile Society" is the last work of Umberto Eco. It was published in Italy a week after Eco's death. It collects articles in the "Express" column that are closely related to the current society. It is Eco's observation and thinking about all social phenomena in the last 15 years of his life. It is wild and interesting. In addition to wise thinking and sharp judgment, there are also many subtle moments of self-knowledge, like the blink of an eye in confusion. "Pape Satan Areppe" comes from a vague words spoken by Pluto, the God of the Underworld, in the seventh song of Dante's "Divine Comedy: Inferno". It has no precise meaning, but it reminds people of all kinds of strange and weird things, which fits the wild and imaginative topics contained in this book. The subtitle "Chronicle of a Mobile Society" points out Umberto Eco's reflections and evaluation of today's society. In a mobile society, there is no solid thing as a support. It is a society that has lost all values and references and has no sense of belonging.
