As an eyewitness to this disaster, the author has conducted arduous and in-depth interviews for several months. Through the personal experiences or oral accounts of the people at the lowest level who were first on site to be affected and rescued by the disaster, the author has obtained a large amount of original material and many unique and unrepeatable details, giving us the possibility to rediscover this disaster. The work focuses on Hunan, the hardest-hit area, and radiates to surrounding provinces and regions, extending to the grim reality of the heavy disaster endured by the entire southern China in a protracted snowstorm. The impact of this disaster on human life undoubtedly condenses many messages and symptoms of an era. All of this should be taken seriously. This is one of the core values to be reflected in the work. The author attempts to provide more enlightenment for human survival through a disaster. This book was selected into the "21st Century Reportage Ranking" selected by the China Reportage Society.
