Asymmetrical
About This Novel
In 2018, the publication of the English version of "Asymmetry" was described by the media as a "literary event" that became very popular. Careful readers will find that its popularity is largely due to the craze of the metoo movement and the gossip between well-known old writers and female literary youths. However, we can easily realize from reading: the relationships between people in the book are far from being summarized by simple power relations, but are closely related and share weal and woe; autobiography is not a gimmick, but intertextualizes the entire real world with the novel, thereby broadening the depth of the narrative; and Lisa Halliday does not intend to do this - in any case, "Asymmetry" forces us to become a better reader and a more active observer.
