About This Novel

In 1992, ten-year-old Gabriel lived with his family in a comfortable immigrant neighborhood in Burundi. His father is from France and is a contractor, his mother is Rwandan, and he has a younger sister Anna. Gabriel spent most of his time with his friends, wandering around happily. The peaceful daily life and happy childhood were shattered as this "little country" in Africa was drawn into the whirlpool of history. Gabriel watched with concern as his parents separated, civil war loomed, and then the tragedy in Rwanda began.
