This book collects short stories and short stories written by Zhang Ailing from 1951 to 1978, including "Xiao Ai", "The May 4th Legacy", "The Resentful Girl", "Lust, Caution", "Meeting in Love", "Flowers and Waves" and "Classmates Are Not Mean". "Lust, Caution" was adapted into a movie of the same name by director Ang Lee. The English version of "The Resentful Girl" has been selected as a common textbook for universities in the United States. Purposeful love is not true love. One day he will be like her, thinking about his life at home and this lamp on the bed, wanting it to stay lit forever. She was no longer afraid, he couldn't run away, the string of the kite was in her hand. She just lay there and missed the little lamp shining in her eyes. The whole city darkened, and lying low at her feet was a lion or a dog lying in the distant mountains next to the cigarette shop. "The Story of the Golden Lock" published by Zhang Ailing in 1943 was praised as "China's greatest novella since ancient times" (Xia Zhiqing); more than 20 years later, Zhang Ailing rewrote "The Story of the Golden Lock" with more than 30,000 words into "The Resentful Girl" with more than 100,000 words, focusing on showing the heroine's inner erotic torment.

Zhang Ailing is a standard celebrity from the Republic of China, but I really don't know much about her works.
Instead of blaming yourself, blame yourself for not choosing to leave worries. People always like to get themselves trapped, but don't consider stepping out and choosing their own life.
Love Zhang Ailing
Zhang's novels are like this. The writing style is light and you don't feel anything at all when you first taste it. Over time, it will gradually erode the reader's heart, making people feel filled with emotions and lament along with the joys and sorrows in the story.
What touches me most is that in the midst of boundless misfortune, the characters' fleeting joy, misfortune and pain all become the prelude. This moment of light is the hammer that makes people collapse.

Everything is silent." This super strong sense of color suddenly makes the picture lively and vivid. Not only the colors add to the sense of the picture, but the psychological description of the flowing movements reads as if they are happening before your eyes. For example, in this paragraph, "Concubine Yi walked in without saying a word, grabbed Xiao Ai's hair, and didn't beat her. She just raised her foot and kicked her hard in the stomach. She was wearing leather shoes. Seeing this, Tao Ma felt like she was about to kill someone, but she couldn't move forward to persuade her. She just felt very unfair, no matter what the girl did.
