About This Novel
Giulio Douhet of Italy, William Mitchell of the United States and Hugh Trenchard of the United Kingdom are three famous thinkers. Their air force theory had a great influence on air force construction and combat theory, and established a solid air power theory. "On National Defense in the Air", also known as "Winged National Defense", is the main work on air power. As an outstanding strategist, Mitchell believes that aviation has promoted a revolution in combat methods; the air force is the decisive force in future wars; it is necessary to establish three major arms: destroyer aviation, bombing aviation, and assault aviation; because the air force can penetrate deep into the enemy's hinterland and destroy the enemy's power in a short time, once it gains air supremacy, there will be no more long-term wars that sacrifice millions of lives; an air defense system consisting of listening stations, interceptors, searchlights, and anti-aircraft artillery must be established to defend the homeland with the power of the air force.
