About This Novel

"The Story of Hulan River" is a "memory" novel full of childlike innocence, poetic interest and inspiration. There are seven chapters in the book: Chapters 1 and 2 describe the small town style, Chapters 3 and 4 talk about the close and distant characters in the family, and Chapters 5, 6 and 7 describe the independent side characters. The author uses a relaxed inspection-style artistic technique and uses the ups and downs of emotions as a context to "biography of the towns and villages along the Hulan River where he was born and raised, the customs and customs of this town, and the life and death, joy and sorrow of various people." The seven chapters of the book are independent and yet integrated, with lingering echoes at the end. With her skillful writing skills, lyrical artistic conception, and heavy yet light writing style, Xiao Hong created her pinnacle work and contributed an immortal classic to Chinese literature.

Thoughts after reading The Biography of Hulan River

From many aspects, it highlights the decadence of China's feudal society, which makes the people in the Hulan River town numb and ignorant. The novel ends with Feng Zuiwaizi. He did not give up on himself after the death of his wife, but faced life and his two sons in a positive and optimistic way. From this perspective, he compared the thoughts of those in the small town. Xiao Hong not only writes about the people in the small town, but also highlights from the side that the entire Chinese society at that time was like the small town of Hulan River, and the thinking was even more so.

When I was a kid, I would catch butterflies, tear them open and eat their flesh. Now that I think about it, it's a bit disgusting😘😘

There is no distinction between good and bad books, but this book is a masterpiece, so it has a certain philosophy attached to it.

If people filled this hole, no children or horses would fall in. And because of this hole, there are some interesting things in the town, which is really contradictory.

[Highly recommended: The Story of Hulan River]

The back garden and her grandfather in the book, the butterflies, cucumbers, dragonflies, and mugwort in the back garden... Everything looks like the most beautiful time in her life, and it is also the scene that I love and yearn for the most in my life. . The purity of childhood, the carefreeness, and a grandfather who loves you, so happy. That reunited daughter-in-law who was mercilessly swallowed up by feudal ethics, that apparently impeccable Sister Wang, just because she married a poor man and became an official, people made gossips and changed their attitudes. She was naive and too ignorant. No matter what, we all grow up and it will pass. 👨May everything be well.
