About This Novel

Du Daoyi, one of the main characters in this book, a real estate tycoon, wields the magic wand of money to do whatever he wants. He can win everything he wants. He can win over a arrogant and popular beauty writer, but he cannot subjugate an ordinary female teacher who he hopelessly pursued in college and whose prime is now gone. The entanglement and sharp conflict between history and reality between these two characters is full of ups and downs, and the world phenomena revealed in it: the loss of scholars, the frivolity of the rich, the perseverance of idealists, and the unscrupulousness of profit-seekers are vivid portraits of all living beings in the arena of life in the transitional era. "Across the Ocean" continues and expands the story of "Across the World" (published by Writers Press in June 2003). This book expresses the current reality; the writing is lyrical, rich in connotation, and has a strong flavor of life.
