About This Novel
"Spring in Winter" is the representative work of the famous contemporary writer Li Guowen. The novel takes Yu Erlong, the party committee secretary and director of a large military industrial power plant, as he returns to the guerrilla base area where he has been away for more than thirty years to search for the murderer who assassinated his wife Lu Hua. Through the narration of his experiences, sights, associations, memories, etc. During the three days he returned to his hometown, it summarizes the content of social life in the past forty years. The work has a unique structure, twists and turns in the plot, rich and vivid details, and has a soul-stirring strong artistic appeal and profound ideological connotation. This book won the first Mao Dun Literature Award. Based on the three days and two nights of the revolutionary cadre Yu Erlong's return to his hometown of Shihu, the novel traces back and compares the 40-year struggle life of the Anti-Japanese War, the Liberation War, and the 17 years after the founding of the People's Republic of China to the "Cultural Revolution" and the smashing of the "Gang of Four", expressing the theme of "spring in the hearts of the people".
