During the Mid-Autumn Festival in August of that year, the emperor of the Han Dynasty dreamed of a beautiful woman. The beauty told the emperor in his dream that a slave lived in Yuezhou, her name was Wang Qiang, and her nickname was Zhaojun. She was seventeen years old and not yet suitable for marriage. The king of Han then sent Mao Yanshou to Yuezhou to look for the beauty of his dreams. Mao Yanshou and his team came to Yuezhou. When the King of Han saw the painting, he chose Concubine Lu instead of Zhaojun, and even liked it. But Wang Zhaojun was thrown into the cold palace because of Mao Yanshou's obstruction.
