About This Novel

Humboldt, the greatest naturalist and geographer after Columbus. He firmly believed that only by conducting on-site measurements of the earth could humans grasp the scale of the world. Gauss, along with Archimedes and Newton, are considered the three greatest mathematicians in history. He hated traveling far away and insisted that "as long as you master the secrets of mathematics, you don't need to travel around to understand the world." Two German scientists of the same era conducted their own research in completely opposite ways, but in the end miraculously reached the same goal: measuring the world!
