About This Novel
"The Albatross Grows" is the latest novel by writer Li Hongwei. The whole book is in the form of a one-act play, consisting of four performances: "Situational Performance", "Standing Performance", "Justification Performance" and "Work Performance". The multi-vocal parts are advanced layer by layer, and all performances are always under a dense and almost violent look. A city-state and a jungle construct two virtual worlds that refer to each other. Ubiquitous viewing, overwhelming carnival, four performances show the chronicle of a city and its world. It is a novel installation of multi-dimensional art and a theater of the human world in all its forms. The novel uses strange imagination and carnival scenery to tell a human story about death and growth, madness and fear, and writes about our own time and destiny, labor and days, constructing a novelist's "Genesis".
