In the darkness and the sound of rain, Mr. Chu felt that his long life had suddenly passed from his eyes. Recalling it was like a dream, which seemed far and near, true and false, just like the morning fog he saw when he opened the window one morning in autumn. At that time, in order to avoid arrest, he and Mr. Cao hid in a summer house in the forest at the foot of the mountain outside the city with the help of a friend. One morning, he woke up early, and the early morning light shone on everything in the forest, making it mysterious and like a fairyland. He stood in front of the window, thinking and carefree, immersed in this rare peace. He would often think of this scene many years later, together with another memory related to it. After Mr. Cao and their business succeeded, he returned to the forest, but the house was no longer there. On the edge of the lake, everything was as it should be, as if there had never been a house there, which surprised him.
