About This Novel
It was quite hesitant to come up with a title like this. Calling it "Nanhua" may be suspected of insulting Zhuangzi. In fact, most of it is due to the fact that I have lived in Nanhuamen for nearly forty years. As for "Miscellaneous Books", most of the articles in the book have been scattered and lost in newspapers and periodicals, and are now compiled into volumes. Different from works with relatively simple genres, the genre is too complex and the title of the book is difficult to decide. I think of Mr. Lu Xun's words, "I don't have the appropriate vernacular, I would rather use ancient proverbs." So he took the title of "Nanhua Zazu". The reason why it is divided into upper and lower parts is because these two parts are very easy to distinguish. The upper part is mostly random and self-talk; the lower part is mostly commentary written in response to requests or participation in discussions. Although up and down are different, light and shallow are the same. It would be a great blessing if it could be used as bamboo and sawdust.
