About This Novel

This book is a collection of short stories in the "Ningbo Young Writers Library (Volume 5)". It takes 40 men living in Huazhen, a small town in the south of the Yangtze River, as the protagonists, and depicts the unique destiny and personality of modern men in the changing times. Men in Huazhen are accustomed to naming themselves after trees. Some of their life episodes are like trees that are evergreen all year round, while others have fallen leaves. Their stories of pursuing their dreams are as tenacious as towering trees and as colorful as luxuriant fir trees. The novel takes the growth of "I" as the main line and divides the story of 40 male protagonists pursuing their dreams into four chapters. The first chapter, Wutong Yeyu, interprets 10 men with special habits and hobbies; the second chapter, Cold Pines and Cypresses, shows the style of the times when 10 men pursue their dreams; the third chapter, Maple Leaf Flowing Dan, depicts the emotional experiences of 10 men; the fourth chapter, Fire Trees and Silver Fir, describes the life feelings of 10 migrant men.
