About This Novel

The novel takes "I" after graduating from junior high school as a clue, and takes the Chinese countryside undergoing great changes in the late twentieth century as the background. It uses fresh and simple words, language full of thoughts and wisdom, colorful details, and real twists and turns to vividly describe a series of major historical events in the late twentieth century through the experiences of a pair of half-brothers growing up, marrying, and studying in a large family society. Under the influence of the incident, the half-brothers and the great changes that quietly took place in a village called Shitai on the shores of Hongze Lake truly restored the rural scenes that had disappeared or were about to disappear and the different personal struggles of the two young people. It was permeated with a spirit of criticism of clan power in rural China and enthusiastically eulogized the love between mother and child, brotherhood and true love, and was full of wisdom in life and warmth of humanity. A unique novel about family emotions; a novel about personal growth; a unique novel about social relationships.
