God's Lackey
About This Novel
Hollyoaks believes God will cleanse them of their sins until "divine punishment" comes in the bloodiest way. A tailor had his eyes sewn open for fraud, and a tavern owner drowned in a holy pool for atrocities... The panicked townspeople believed that God himself would execute the people, and formed a "purification group" to execute all the sinners first. However, a cruel truth emerges: In this isolated town, no one is innocent. In order to avoid collective massacre, they set up a detective team: the pragmatic but struggling police chief, the grocer with evil intentions, the naive waiter, and - the "second son of God" Abel who was regarded by everyone as crazy. Ironically, it was this "madman" whose home was filled with books on criminal psychology, who became the key "think tank" in solving the case. He guides the investigation accurately: the white cat is a harbinger of death, and the crow is the signal to "solve the case." With his "help", the detective team brought innocent people (or those who were not guilty enough to die) to the trial stand again and again. However, as the chain of blaming continued to extend, Sheriff Jack read a chilling declaration in Abel's blood-stained diary: "God's right hand bestows mercy, and his left hand executes judgment. And I am the forgotten left hand."** They thought they were chasing the devil, but they didn't know that the devil was sitting among them, directing this bloody and gorgeous redemption with God. Is this the devil's whisper, or is it God's mercy?
