He served as the county magistrate in Luling, Jiangxi Province, and petitioned for orders for the people; after Liu Jin was executed, Yangming finally had hope again. Wang Qiong outwitted Qian Ning and King Ning, and appointed Wang Yangming to patrol south of Jiangxi to suppress bandits and prevent King Ning from rebelling.
