About This Novel
"The Scholars" is a famous long satirical novel in vernacular Chinese literature in the 18th century. It is the highest peak of ancient satirical literature in my country. The author, Wu Jingzi (1701-1754), had the courtesy name Minxuan and the nickname Limin. In his later years, he called himself Old Man Wenmu.
