The Sky of the Fifth Generation

About This Novel
The "Five Dynasties", also known as the "Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms", was a magnificent historical period that moved from great division to great unification after the demise of the powerful Tang Dynasty. The so-called "Five Dynasties" refer to the Central Plains dynasties of Later Liang, Later Tang, Later Jin, Later Han, and Later Wu; the so-called "Ten Kingdoms" refer to the nine regimes established in the south, including Wu, Southern Tang, Wuyue, Chu, Min, Southern Han, Nanping, Former Shu, and Later Shu, plus the Northern Han Dynasty, which was based in Shanxi Province today. The Five Dynasties and the Ten Kingdoms were a time of war and change, and the story is no less exciting than the Three Kingdoms, with anecdotes and reckless heroes everywhere. Most of the monarchs of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms came from humble backgrounds. Zhu Wen, Taizu of the Liang Dynasty, was originally a shepherd boy who herded pigs for the landlord's family; Yang Xingmi, the Taizu of the Southern Wu Dynasty, was originally a salt dealer; Li Sheng, the great martyr of the Southern Tang Dynasty, wandered around at a young age and did not even know who his biological father was; Ma Yin, the founding king of the Chu State, worked as a carpenter in his early years; These people came from humble beginnings and eventually achieved great success. They are worthy of our study and thinking. I often wonder what my ancestors were doing at that time. Some of them may be traffickers and pawns, singers and dancers, some may be princes, generals, and warriors, and even more may be farmers working in the fields and hard-working craftsmen... So, let us look back at that era that is not too far away from us, and listen to those stories that may make people's blood surge, or make people sigh, but not everyone may be familiar with them. Talking gibberish while drunk is a prelude. Tong Yi Spring 2020 in Dongzhimen, Beijing
