"Diary of a Madman" is the first short vernacular diary novel written by Lu Xun and the first modern vernacular novel in China. It was written in April 1918. This article first appeared in the monthly magazine "New Youth", Volume 4, Issue 5, May 15, 1918, and was later included in the collection "Scream". "Hot Wind" refers to a collection of essays written by Lu Xun from 1918 to 1924.
