About This Novel

The original work of the American Hollywood blockbuster "Hacksaw Ridge". This book is a military literary classic based on the true story of Desmond Dawes, the legendary hero on the American Pacific battlefield during World War II and a recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor. It was authorized to be published by the Desmond Dawes Legacy Foundation. The Japanese army's jungle offensive was as dense as a spider web, and light and heavy machine guns fired from various tricky angles. The "hell demons" harvested the lives of American soldiers without stopping. Under such tragic circumstances, Desmond Dawes, a medical soldier of the 77th Infantry Division of the US Army, insisted on traveling throughout the Pacific battlefields of the US military in Guam, Leyte Island in the Philippines, and Okinawa without holding weapons. And participated in the unprecedented brutal battle of the US military on the Pacific Theater of World War II - the Battle of Hacksaw Ridge. The Japanese anti-aircraft guns, mortars, infantry artillery, and grenades were all over the place. The tug-of-war between the two armies instantly filled Hacksaw Ridge with smoke and corpses everywhere. After several days of brutal fighting, Desmond Dawes, who was exhausted and wounded in many places, persisted in not retreating without backup or weapons. He held on all night and cleverly avoided the Japanese raids. Adhering to the belief of "let me save one more person," he fearlessly shuttled through the hail of bullets, rescued 75 wounded with his bare hands, and safely transferred them one by one to the foot of the ridge. It wasn't until the U. S. Military's final major counterattack to capture the Hacksaw Ridge Highlands that Desmond Dawes, who was injured in the bombing, walked off the battlefield. "Hacksaw Ridge" is a great tribute to faith and those who stick to their faith. It is a shocking heroic epic.
