During the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, Japanese pirates were infested along the southeast coast. Lu Jian, a young man from a poor fisherman family, had a troubled life. Because of the involvement of Ning Bukong, a master from Xicheng who lived in seclusion in the fishing village, he was abducted by Japanese pirates and traveled eastward to Japan. After the Battle of Tonghajian, Lu Jian wandered around and accidentally met the mermaid monk, the descendant of King Kong from the Ming Dynasty. Monk Yu had a compassionate heart, and in order to alleviate Lu Jian's "Black Heaven Tribulation", he used his own life to continue Lu Jian's life.
