About This Novel
On a noon in early September 1987 when tigers were raging in autumn, I was "repairing the earth" in the cornfield when I suddenly made a critical decision that turned out to be absolutely true and changed the direction of my life. I joined the army on November 12 of this year, but I always stubbornly believed that from that day on, I secretly joined the army. But later, when I sorted out my life history, I was pleasantly surprised to find from the warehouse of memory that the seeds of my soldiering were planted on that unforgettable morning when I was six or seven years old. However, it had been dormant and only sprouted when I was eighteen years old. The cornfield was airtight and it was the hottest time of the day. I was like a steamed bun in a pot.
