I have climbed the beautiful Huashan Mountain and admired the majestic Yangtze River. But I have never seen the Old Summer Palace that was burned to ashes by the fire! This "Beijing Science and Technology Tour" summer camp allowed me to witness the desolation of the Old Summer Palace. As soon as I walked into the Old Summer Palace, I saw desolation everywhere: some pillars were erected there, as if they were telling the various crimes of the British and French allied forces; some pillars were leaning, as if they were in danger of falling down at any time; and some pillars were lying on the ground, as if they were groaning in pain. In the distance, the wind blew the dead leaves, and the leaves swirled and fell to the ground, making people full of sadness.
