About This Novel
This book is the representative work of the famous Soviet writer Lavrenyov. The novel describes the female revolutionary warrior Malutka who was ordered to escort a White Army general as a prisoner. On the way, they encountered a storm, the ship sank, and the two were swept to an uninhabited desert island. A heartbreaking love tragedy occurred between these two young men and women with different classes, different beliefs, different cultural accomplishments, and different pursuits, which made readers feel the fierce struggle between the two classes in a special era. The novel uses third-person narration, the plot is compact, and the psychological description of the characters is perfect.
