About This Novel

I saw him appear across the small street at least five times, carrying a shabby little cloth bag, timidly looking into the gate, hesitating for a moment, then disappearing into the empty streets of the town, and returning after a while, repeating the hesitation just now. The small conference room is on the second floor. The place where I sit is facing a row of large windows, and outside the window is the old small street. Seeing his repeated embarrassment, I guessed that this man must have something that he had to do but that was difficult to talk about. I really didn't expect that he was coming for me. He came to see me after dinner, when it was almost dark.
