About This Novel
The 2013 Nobel Prize for Literature was announced on October 10. The Canadian female writer Alice Munro's award may be another surprise to everyone - she only writes short stories, never long novels. This seems to be a reminder to some writers who think that it is important to write long stories: there is never any priority in writing, but the emphasis is on embodying the essence and spirit of art. In the award speech for this year's Nobel Prize in Literature, Alice Munro was hailed as a "master of contemporary short stories."
