About This Novel

100,000 years ago, there were at least 6 different human species on the earth, but today only 1 remains, Homo sapiens. What happened to cause the rest of the human species to disappear? What will happen to us Homo sapiens? The famous Israeli historian Yuval Harari pioneered the combination of history and science to tell the complete story of the history of Homo sapiens from the Big Bang to the present. Professor Yuval Harari believes that in the long evolutionary history of Homo sapiens from an inconspicuous animal to the ruler of the earth, three key revolutions took place: the cognitive revolution, the agricultural revolution and the scientific revolution. The cognitive revolution gave Homo sapiens the ability to create imaginary orders and fictional stories, completely surpassing other species; the agricultural revolution allowed Homo sapiens to move from a hunter-gatherer life to a settled life, with revolutionary changes in lifestyle and social organization; the scientific revolution allowed Homo sapiens to become a god-like "creator" and gain dominance over the entire earth. Professor Yuval Harari also reminded us to look forward, because in the past few decades, we have begun to violate the law of natural selection, which has been the law of life for the past 4 billion years. Today, we have not only gained the ability to design the world around us, but also gained the ability to design ourselves. Where will this lead us, and what kind of human beings do we want to be? It's time to redefine "human". "A Brief History of Mankind" is a global bestseller that abandons the old interpretive framework and proposes subversive ideas, giving us a new understanding of our own existence.

A grand description of the history of Homo sapiens

From the emergence of Homo sapiens across all major continents, to the settlement of agricultural revolution, to the establishment of large-scale settlement tribal empires, to the spiritual world opened up by religion to believers in BC, to the self-awareness of Homo sapiens' own ignorance during the Industrial Revolution, to the development of the scientific revolution to the modification of biological genes, which can destroy the entire earth and the Internet of global communications. This is a cognitive revolution for readers!

As for Homo sapiens, they also belong to a certain family. Although this incident may seem mundane, it was once the greatest secret in all of history. Homo sapiens has always wanted to be different from other animals, as if the entire family has only its own existence, without brothers and sisters, no distant relatives, and most importantly: no parents. But unfortunately this is far from true. Accept it or not, the family of hominins to which we belong is not only numerous but also extremely noisy: a bunch of giant apes. Our closest relatives are chimpanzees, gorillas and orangutans. Of these, chimpanzees are the closest to us. But just 60,000 years ago, a female ape gave birth to two daughters. One became the ancestor of all chimpanzees, and the other became the grandmother of all humans.

A perfect explanation of human religion, morality and money. You will understand a lot of things after reading it.

1. The laws of operation of human life are very well explained. Money is not money. Religion is not religion. Morality is not about morality. There is no such thing as good people. 2. A very in-depth explanation of why humans are stronger than other animals. 3. Maybe what adults said when I was young was wrong. 4. I have re-understood the world.

It seems that you have conquered, but in the end you were conquered. Anything created by humans can be overturned by humans.

Books that look at humanity from a unique perspective

A monograph by a 40-year-old young scholar from Israel, who is erudite and has unique insights. I have never read a book like this that studies human history. It puts aside all the concepts and frameworks of telling history in the past. Starting from 700 million years ago, "Homo sapiens" became the only and largest host on the earth through the "cognitive revolution", "agricultural revolution", "industrial revolution" and "scientific revolution"; through money, empire, religion, he established a hegemon that ruled and changed everything in nature. The research logic and narration put forward his thoughts on praise and criticism. I am not a student of history or philosophy, and I have not researched many of the contents. I just think this book has a novel perspective and is worth understanding. Quoting the author's last words below, you can briefly understand his point of view: "Furthermore, while humans now possess many amazing capabilities, we remain elusive about our goals and still seem perpetually dissatisfied. Our means of transportation have changed from canoes to sailboats to steamboats to airplanes to space shuttles, but we still don't know where we're going. We're more powerful than ever, but We barely know how to use these powers. What's worse, humans seem to be less responsible than ever. We have allowed ourselves to become gods, and the only thing left is the laws of physics, and we are responsible for no one. Because of this, we wreak havoc on the animals and ecosystems around us, just for our own comfort and entertainment, but never get true satisfaction. Having the power of God, but being irresponsible, greedy, and not even knowing what he wants is the most dangerous thing in the world."

Where did humans come from? Where are you going again!

A very novel point of view is that wheat tamed humans and entered farming from then on. History always advances unexpectedly, as if there is an invisible force that allows people to constantly exchange the happiness of human groups for convenience and stronger power. If evolution was dominant in the entire earth's ecology in the past, and now humans are determining the evolution and selection of entire creatures, will superhuman beings evolve in the future? Are the gods in ancient myths the relics left by the self-destruction of super-intelligent life forms in the previous history of the earth? I have to admire the author's overall perspective and thinking. It is a book worth reading.
