About This Novel
"The Old Man and the Sea" is Hemingway's most famous novella, which won the Pulitzer Prize and the Nobel Prize for Literature. The novel creates the image of a civilian hero in the history of human literature: Santiago, an old Cuban fisherman, went to sea for eighty-four days and caught nothing, but he did not despair and finally caught a big fish.
