About This Novel
"Shishuo Sutan" is a historical essay by the literary and historical writer Liu Bo interpreting "Shishuo Xinyu". Liu Bo used the form of telling jokes to interestingly interpret the behaviors and thoughts of various well-known figures in "Shishuoxinyu", such as Ruan Ji, Ji Kang, Wang Xizhi and others. The whole book is divided into five major chapters: "The Changes of Dynasties in the Han, Wei and Shichang Xuanfeng", "Seven Sages in the Bamboo Forest", "The Glitz and Dreams of China and North Korea", "The Differences in Rivers", and "The Old Thief Who Can't Get Around". Liu Bo is based on the text of "Shishuoxinyu" and refers to "Book of Jin" Through accurate textual research and other relevant historical materials, many celebrities in the Wei and Jin Dynasties are put into the specific historical background for interpretation, and multiple clues of imagination and reasoning are used to interpret the romance and desolation of the Wei and Jin Dynasties from a more diversified perspective.
