This book contains two novels by Mr. Lao She, namely "Zhao Ziyue" and "The Biography of Niu Tianci". "Zhao Ziyue" depicts the chaotic, despicable and vulgar life of a group of college students in the rooftop apartment of Drum Tower in Beijing in the 1920s. The protagonist Zhao Zi said that he did not study hard and made trouble everywhere, so he was expelled from the university. He played mahjong all night long and spent all day at the banquet, drunk and dreaming. At the critical moment of life and death, thanks to the persuasion of his best friend Li Jingchun, he finally woke up, changed his ways, and started a new life. In "The Biography of Niu Tianci", the merchants and their old man, Niu Tianci, were old and childless. One day, someone gave them a child. They thought that the child was a gift from God, so they named it Niu Tianci. Tianci has been pampered since he was a child, and coupled with the abnormal upbringing of the Niu couple, he can do nothing except play and write some small articles. His family was backward and he had nothing but his former servant and friend Mr. Hu.
