About This Novel

The whole book consists of two parts: "History of Early Chinese Art" and appendices. "Early Chinese Art History" was first published in 1929. It is the first work in the Western Sinology circle to systematically study the history of early Chinese art. The book is divided into four volumes: before the Han Dynasty, the Han Dynasty, sculpture, and architecture. It contains more than 900 photos of cultural relics and historical sites collected by museums and private collectors at home and abroad. Nowadays, quite a few of these cultural relics and scenic spots have been damaged to varying degrees or even disappeared, which shows the value of this book. The appendix "Chinese Landscape: happy Renlong's Photography and Insights" was first published in 1937 and contains 157 photos of buildings, gardens and customs taken by happy Renlong during his travels in China. The original book was in Danish and only 600 copies were published, making it the least printed work by Xirenlong.
